“Students Share Their Educational Background, Aspirations and Suggestions at ‘Coffee with DM’ Programme”
Youthful Ideas, Administrative Dialogue and a New Direction for Gaya’s Development.
Gaya, August 26, 2026: The third session of the “Coffee with DM” programme was organised, during which the District Magistrate interacted with students. The students shared suggestions on various development-related issues in the district, including quality education and skill development, technological innovation, employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, improved civic amenities, and stronger communication between the administration and the general public. During the programme, held at the Collectorate, the students openly shared their suggestions and ideas.
01. Mahi Kumari, a resident of Gaya Sadar, completed her Class 12 education in the Commerce stream from PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, Gaya. She secured 96.6% in Class 10 and 99.8% in Class 12, earning the distinction of AIR-2 (National Topper 2025–26) at the national level. She has currently enrolled in B.Com (Honours) at Banaras Hindu University. During her school years, she actively participated in various activities as Commerce Minister and House Captain, as well as in anchoring, debates, speeches, quizzes and chess. Her goal is to join the civil services and serve the country and society through public administration. She aspires to understand the problems faced by citizens at the grassroots level and contribute to the formulation of effective, transparent and sensitive policies.
She suggested measures to address issues such as encroachment, traffic congestion, road maintenance and cleanliness in Gaya city. These included regular road maintenance, timely repair of potholes, better parking arrangements and an effective public grievance redressal system. She also emphasised the need to strengthen regular communication between the administration and citizens, along with greater transparency and public participation. She suggested creating greater awareness among citizens and young people about State and Central Government startup schemes and the Startup Bihar portal, as well as organising regular workshops on the startup ecosystem for the youth of the district, so that more young people can benefit from these schemes and move towards entrepreneurship.
02. Aditi Kumari, a resident of Chandauti, is a seventh-semester student of B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) at the Central University of South Bihar. She completed her schooling from DAV Public School, Gaya, and secured admission to the university through CLAT and CUET-2023. She has gained practical experience through internships at the Gaya Civil Court, Patna High Court, Law Foundation Patna and the Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority. Her goal is to build a career in the fields of administration and judiciary and serve society and citizens through law and administration.
She suggested measures to control traffic congestion and disorder caused by the installation of tents on roads and public places during festivals, along with better regulation of public events, effective prevention of noise pollution and a strong crackdown on forced collection of donations. She also emphasised the need for adequate lighting, installation of CCTV cameras and strengthened security arrangements in the areas surrounding the Central University of South Bihar.
03. Abhishek Kumar, a resident of Gaya Sadar, is pursuing his third year of BCA through IGNOU. He is actively involved in the fields of web development, cybersecurity, robotics, AI and data science. Along with serving as a Senior Mentor in the INFINICODE Internship Program and providing technical training to students, he has participated in various projects, hackathons and technology programmes. His goal is to become a Startup Founder and Full-Stack Software Developer. He aims to use technology to solve real-world problems and create new opportunities for the youth of Bihar.
He suggested developing a digital platform for the convenience of pilgrims during the Pitripaksha Mela, providing information on hotels and guest houses, local transportation, temples, crowd conditions, emergency services and other essential facilities at a single location. This would not only make the pilgrimage more convenient for devotees but also benefit local businesses.
04. Rajveer Kumar, a resident of Manpur, is a third-semester B.A. Geography student at Gaya College, Gaya. He secured 83.8% in Class 10 and 86.60% in Class 12, and achieved the highest marks at the school level in the Arts stream. He scored more than 90% in the KYP course and has performed exceptionally at the district and state levels in quizzes, speeches, science seminars and debate competitions. His goal is to qualify for the Bihar Administrative Service, become an officer and serve his area and society more effectively through administration.
He suggested using AI-based cameras and smart screens to improve traffic management in Gaya. These systems could provide information about traffic conditions on different routes and help people choose better routes. He also emphasised the need to increase awareness about traffic rules. He suggested establishing help desks at the panchayat level so that citizens can easily register their grievances and problems. In addition, he proposed connecting young people with entrepreneurs involved in village-level activities such as mushroom cultivation and beekeeping to increase employment and self-employment opportunities.
The District Magistrate appreciated the creative suggestions put forward by the students and said that the ideas of young people and their active participation are important in giving a new direction to the development of the district. He stated that the district administration would take necessary action on practical and useful suggestions, as appropriate, and that young people would continue to be associated with the development process.
He also appealed to other young people in the district to join this initiative and share their expectations and constructive suggestions with the district administration. He said that such sessions would be organised regularly every Wednesday and Saturday. Interested young people can share their suggestions and ideas through the form available on the Gaya district NIC website or at TinyURL.com/DMgaya. He further stated that the district administration would work towards implementing all the suggestions received during the session.
At the conclusion of the programme, the young participants appreciated the “Coffee with DM” initiative and expressed their desire for it to be organised regularly.
