Coffee with DM Gaya

Coffee with DM is a youth engagement initiative of the District Administration, Gaya, designed to provide students and young citizens (15–25 years) with an open and approachable platform to interact directly with the District Magistrate. The programme encourages participants to share their aspirations, concerns, challenges, and innovative ideas on education, careers, skill development, governance, and community issues. It aims to foster meaningful dialogue, strengthen trust between the administration and young people, and promote participatory governance. The insights and suggestions received during these interactions will help shape responsive policies and initiatives, empowering the youth to become active partners in the development of Gaya.

The first session of the “Coffee with DM” program was held. The District Magistrate interacted with the students. Students discussed topics related to education, Indian culture, cleanliness, civic responsibility, tourism, traffic management, infrastructure, and the development of Gaya. Students openly shared their suggestions at the program held at the Collectorate.

1. Aparna Kumari, a Class 12 graduate of Indus Vision Academy, Gaya, offered valuable suggestions regarding youth participation in solving local problems, cleanliness, and civic responsibility.

Aparna scored 96.2 percent in CBSE Class 10, 95 percent in Class 12, and successfully qualified for NEET UG-2026 in her first attempt. She aspires to become a Compassionate Doctor and Medical Researcher in the field of Oncology. She also enjoys Madhubani painting, embroidery, and writing science fiction stories.

He suggested public awareness campaigns like “MyCleanGaya” in Gaya, cleanliness ranking of wards and markets, reporting overflowing dustbins, and providing citizens with information after cleaning. He called for honoring communities and sanitation workers with improved cleanliness, and organizing activities like Civic Responsibility Week and Community Service in schools.

He suggested developing “No Litter Zones” in key areas around the Vishnupad Temple, the Phalgu River, the Tent City, and the Pitru Paksha Mela, emphasizing the need to integrate cleanliness not just into a rule, but also into a public campaign and civic pride.

2. Vidushi Raj, a Class 11 student at Delhi Public School, Gaya, expressed her desire to discuss issues related to the development of Gaya city and district and improved civic amenities with the District Officer. She aspires to become a doctor. She has participated in two School Games Federation of India (SGFI) National Competitions.

She has participated in two Basketball Federation of India (BFI) National Competitions. She also has an interest and active participation in the arts.
Suggestions for Gaya District:
Vidushi emphasized the need for sanitation and construction/infrastructure development in Gaya. She suggested ensuring regular cleaning and better maintenance of public toilets in the city. Regular monitoring of the condition of public toilets should be conducted. Road construction and repair work in urban and rural areas should be accelerated. Prompt action should be taken on complaints regarding poor roads. Planned construction work should be carried out for infrastructure development in urban and rural areas.

03. Khushboo Kumari, a PG student at IGNOU Gaya, expressed her desire to meet with the District Magistrate to discuss improving the quality of education from primary to higher education in Gaya district. She is preparing for the BPSC and is preparing for the 72nd BPSC after missing the 71st BPSC by 8 marks. She has received several awards for her participation in various essay, quiz, painting, slogan, and state-level programs.

03. Suggestions: They emphasized improving the quality of primary and higher education in Gaya, strengthening children’s subject matter understanding, and increasing youth participation in village-level education reform. Their vision is “Developed Gaya, Developed Bihar, Developed India,” ensuring all citizens receive better education and the benefits of government programs.

4. Adarsh ​​Upadhyay, a Class 9 student at Nazarat Academy, Gaya, expressed his desire to meet with the District Magistrate and discussed the importance of promoting and promoting Indian knowledge systems, cultural awareness, and the preservation and promotion of Indian traditional culture in Gaya.

He stated that there is a need to increase awareness about Indian knowledge systems and traditional culture among youth and students. He suggested that the district administration should conduct awareness campaigns in schools and among the general public, and organize programs related to Indian culture and heritage.

Academic and Special Achievements:
District Rank-1 and Class Topper in ISSO SOF Olympiad, National Rank in HTSE/GTSE, Rank-3 in INTACT Gaya Quiz, Participation in various national quizzes and events, Yoga training and world record related to Ganesh Panchratna Stotra recitation and interpretation of human anatomy are mentioned, also actively participates in awareness programmes about Indian Constitution.

5. Sujal Saurav attended DAV Public School, Gaya, until grade 10 and is currently studying at Subhash International School. He scored 412 out of 500 in CBSE in grade 10. He is actively involved in NCC, the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and social activities.
He aspires to pursue a career in international finance and corporate management. Interested in Gaya’s tourism development, he suggested beautification of tourist destinations, improved tourist amenities, effective waste management, and better traffic diversion and route management during the Pitru Paksha fair.

While the students’ suggestions during the “Coffee with DM” program emphasized the preservation of Gaya’s cultural and spiritual heritage, important topics such as cleanliness, civic responsibility, tourism development, traffic management, public facilities, roads and infrastructure, and youth participation in governance also emerged.

The District Magistrate welcomed the students’ creative suggestions, stating that the thinking, energy, and new ideas of young people can play a significant role in Gaya’s overall development. The program’s objective is to provide students and youth with an opportunity to directly interact with the administration and integrate their suggestions into the development process. He appealed to other youth in the district to join this initiative and convey their expectations and constructive suggestions to the district administration. He stated that such sessions will be held regularly every Wednesday and Saturday. The youth’s suggestions will be integrated into development plans. The district administration will work to implement all the suggestions received today.

Following the program, all participating students visited various branches located in the Collectorate complex. They interacted with officials from various departments and gained information about departmental procedures, government services, and public welfare schemes.

The students were also informed about how the benefits of various government schemes are delivered to ordinary citizens and the administrative process for resolving public issues.

At the end of the programme, the youth appreciated the initiative like ‘Coffee with DM’ and expressed their expectation to organise it regularly.
